19th Century Flow Blue Three Piece Butter Dish

Beautiful 19th Century Flow Blue Three Piece Butter Dish, made by Wood & Son, Burslem, Staffordshire, England in 1891. The pottery company was established in 1865, and made special tea-ware, fancy earthenware and porcelain. This three piece butter dish is especially wonderful, with its embossing, cobalt blue color and hand applied gilt detailing.

The bowl has three floral designs on the side, the scalloped insert has exquisite detailing and gold accents. The lid finishes the set off, with embossed and gilded details and a scroll handle. The lid has a chip and a tight hairline that has been there since this was used at the table regularly, probably since the early 1900's. Priced accordingly.
