French Memorial Burial Plaque Sacred Heart, in heart shape with a cross at the top. Made of heavy cast metal with raised gilded lettering, so cherished that after it broke, it was glued to a wood piece. This was originally used as a memorial marker, in memoriam for Louise Renault. Beautifully decorative, in a silvered grey paint finish.
Wired for extra security, perhaps to wire it back on the cross. Collectible piece of French history, these are wonderful on display with a collection of religious antiques, saints and madonnas, or outdoors in the garden. This one especially touches my heart, the wiring and screws show that it was loved enough to be repaired by the family.
