Gorgeous estate hand painted Antique English Chippendale Tole Tray with a rare to find jewel green background. The central painting features a wealth of fruit spilling from a classical urn, ripe pears, apples, peaches, plums, cherries, grapes and other garden favorites. Enhanced by well painted foliage in subtle colors of gold, this was painted with great care and skill. Outstanding gilt grapevines and leaves with clusters of hanging green grapes embellish the rim of this stunning tray.
An heirloom example of the English pieces so beloved by collectors for their masterful painting and the scalloped serpentine rims. There is wear to the gilt rim as shown, and to the tray, commensurate with the age of this tray, the green has some wear in places after decades.
