Antique Cast Metal Argente French Bijoux Box in Form of Miniature French Standing Bureau, designed to the same exacting design details of its larger cousins. Found on a recent buying trip, this French treasure is a romantic addition to your desk or dressing table. Designed in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s, sold as a souvenir, carefully executed to produce a realistic representation of a real piece of furniture. Solid and heavy, this petite desk is perfectly designed with cabriole legs, faux drawer fronts and keyhole, and a top that opens to reveal a silk velvet lined space for your most precious jewels, or perhaps gold nibs for your antique fountain pens?
The silk velvet lining is a replacement for the original silk that shredded, according to the collection owner. The inside of the lid has an etched pattern of scrolls which to emulate silver fabric. The bottom of the box is just as pretty as the top with a large decorative panel with a central medallion. Silver plated, an enchanting addition to your collection and a wonderfully personal gift for a jewelry lover, an artist or a collector of unusual miniatures. There is a slight difference in the height of the legs after decades, the desk stands firm but has a little wobble. Please only adopt if you can love her with the grace of time.
