Beautiful Antique 12-1/2″ Repousse Centerpiece Plateau Mirror, with a stunning beveled mirror on the top. Plateau mirrors like this were used in the 1800’s and early 1900’s on the dining table, in the center or in front of the guest of honor, to showcase lavish floral centerpieces and candles. The mirror reflected back light from the candle lit chandeliers, creating a magical table setting. This centerpiece plateau mirror rests on elegant rococo shell feet and has an ornate floral detailed design.
This plateau has a beautiful patina, we adore it as is, and hope you do too! The mirror is in good antique condition, with soft light surface scratches from over 100 years of use, nothing distracting, and no chips, cracks or flakes so often seen in these antique beauties. A lovely addition to your home, it will look gorgeous displayed on a buffet with wine glasses, used to elevate a flower centerpiece or with candles for the holiday season. A rare treat! It is unmarked.
