19th Century English Industrial Firefighter’s Bucket

$295.00

Availability: 1 in stock

A 19th Century English Industrial Firefighter’s Bucket which has developed a really attractive and natural patina over the last century. Made for keeping inside homes, or as part of a fire-brigade’s bucket supply, it has a heavy duty cast handle and the number 87 painted on one side.  In the late 1800’s, there were very few fire brigades, fires were extinguished by ordinary citizens, who handed buckets of water ‘down the line’ to stem the flames.

This bucket was made by a tin box manufacturing company in London, it’s marked but I can’t read the company’s initials after all these years. The bucket has a wonderful size to make a really nice planter in your garden or home.  There are many other ways to use this jewel, store logs by your fireplace, keep your decorating magazines in it, or just display it for the wonderful piece of history it is!

  • Measures 15-1/2″ x 10-1/2″ x 10″ {top of bucket} x 16″ {top of handle.}
