Antique French Trompe L’oeil Porcelain Mallard Duck in a Crust Pâté Terrine. Pillivuyt produced a variety of porcelain terrines inspired by the hunt and for serving game pies or pâté. This type terrine was originally designed and made for royalty and nobility in the eighteenth century as an ingenious solution for pastry-less tarts and pies during France’s flour shortage.
This is a beautiful antique piece, rare to find in this condition, it’s sure to be the star of your French Country kitchen collection! Made in the early 1900’s.
