This month, my friend and I had the pleasure of honoring one of our dear friends with a bridal shower, a small intimate gathering of her 8 dearest friends, for brunch. After a long time without a special person, our friend suddenly found her best friend, a man she loves, and they’re getting married! I set up a very easy to do brunch, I’m sharing the details today for our Monday Morning Blooms, Valentine’s Edition. This brunch is easily made into a party for friends, or a special time with your certain someone.
What is more romantic for Valentine’s Day than celebrating the marriage of a couple who found each other later in life? Long awaited, prayed for, and then completely by surprise {at least by them, not by God!} they met and fell in love.
It was such a beautiful day, right in the middle of winter, like spring with sunshine and birds singing. The day before it was so cold that I thought we would have the fireplace on. But Mother Nature fooled me! {If I had known, I would have done it in our winter garden.}
WELCOME TO MONDAY MORNING BLOOMS.
Pam, Mary and I are celebrating Love’s Own Day with a Valentine’s Day floral inspiration. Be sure to click on their links and visit their blogs today. You know how much they always inspire all of us with the beauty they create!
“I don’t want someone to make me happy, I want someone to build happiness with me.”―Augusto Branco
My co-hostess and I bought all the food ready to go. The quiches were made by a local restaurant. I bought the salad at Trader Joe’s and added the candied pecans – the Harvest Apple Salad came with a dressing. {I decided to offer chicken on the side in case someone couldn’t eat dairy.} A variety of fruits were served with an easy sauce made by mixing together Greek yoghurt, orange juice and a little honey. My co-hostess ordered the fruit tartlettes at a bakery, along with the flourless chocolate cake and the macarons.
Our Easy Brunch Menu:
Mimosa’s with Mango and Orange Juice
A sparkling non-alcoholic drink
Quiche Lorraine & Spinach Mushroom Quiche
Fresh Fruit with Orange Sauce
Salad with Apples, Candied Pecans and Micro Greens
Flourless Chocolate Cake
French Fruit Tartlettes
Heart Macarons
Bee Embellished Chocolates
For the brunch we decided to set buffet up in the kitchen. This photo above is from before guests arrived. {Those stools actually don’t show “in real life” it is because of how I took the photo. They are completely under the table, but maybe next time I’ll have Mr. FGH move them into the garage and out of the photos.} The large platter that is empty is for two kinds of quiche – right then they were still in the oven being heated.
The flower centerpiece is a mix of Trader Joe’s white and pink blooms. I bought what was pretty when I went in to buy the flowers, without having a color theme in mind.
Cilio Light Pink Roses
Alstroemeria Intichancha Magic White
Lovestruck Pink Tulips
White Hydrangeas
Eucalyptus Parvifolia
Maidenhair and Button Ferns snipped from our back garden
I chose white, clear and gold for our colors. These gold lavished goblets are still my very favorites!
Elegant gold embellished plates were set on top of a variety of glass compotes to serve deserts, and elevate glasses to give the setting different heights. The bee napkins added to the bridal shower fun. The bride and groom met on ‘Bumble’ – the dating app that has branding centered around bees . Bees are very special to them, and I added them where I could.
Continuing on the bee theme, I packed little jars of French honey, a small wood honey dripper, and our delicious Marie Antoinette French Tea up in a bag. The little tags were printed on the computer, topped with ribbon and sparkly bee pin.
Some of the flowers were a little bruised, but I just couldn’t let them not be part of this pretty arrangement.
A sparkly bee pin buzzed onto my gift too! The bride-to-be asked all of us to wear our bees for the wedding. I think she’s pinning hers underneath a layer somewhere.
This was such a lovely way to honor the bride-to-be! This pretty white and pink floral arrangement is perfect for Valentine’s Day too.
True love is hard to find. I’m so grateful that my darling friend found hers!
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
