December is the most magical time of year with the holidays celebrating all that we hold dear.
It’s also an opportunity for us to give meaningful gifts to those we love most, and for our homes to look their very best.
I’ve had quite a few emails and messages on FaceBook asking for a few suggestions for holiday silver “gifts” {for YOU, or to give!} so I put together this post to showcase some of my favorite pieces that will cast your holidays in a silver glow!
The holidays are the time to use silver at home. The lights of your tree, the candles, and shiny bright ornaments all reflect just beautifully in silver. And nothing says luxurious Holiday like silver!
If you haven’t finished your decorating and/or gift purchasing, and you need a jumpstart, let me offer a few silver antiques from my shop to help get your home in the holiday spirit, and help you select the perfect gift for those you love!

Antique Cherub Quadruple Plate Stand
This is one of those….something I fall for in a big way, that has Mr. FrenchGardenHouse a little bit confused. It’s not perfect, as it’s missing the original glass bowl that would have come with it. But me? I see it holding a fat candle, wreathed in greens, the candlelight softly casting the beautiful cherub in a soft holiday glow. {Call me crazy!}
There are so many beautiful silver antiques in our FrenchGardenHouse shop right now. For gifts. For adding joy to your holidays. For making Merry. and Bright!

Lidy, so many beautiful silver choices…all exquisite!! I absolutely love the ladies wallet and oh my those silver bangles! Wishing you a wonder-filled Wednesday!
The same to you Pam! Thanks so much for stopping by. xo
Silver with its shine and luster just seems to make the holidays more festive. I try and give mine a good polish so they are at their best during Christmas. I love to find new ways to use and display pieces. I have a large silver wine cooler (looks like a trophy) that I was given on my wedding day 40 years ago. It now proudly holds a display of lemons and their leaves on an over turned fireplace fender topped with a marble slab in my dining room. I have also pressed another vintage and rather beat up silver wine cooler into a container for shampoo, sponges, etc in my bathroom shower (my husband drilled holes in the bottom for drainage.
Lisa, I love how you’ve found such interesting, beautiful ways to use your silver!
Your silver is exquisite Lidy….and that Cherub quadruple plate stand stole my heart!!! After seeing so many beautiful silver napkin rings lately, I find myself looking for them at shops! Have a very Merry day Lidy…thinking of you living in that wonderful warm climate! Cold here!!…but at least no snow!
Shirley, obviously we should go antique shopping when you are here! We love all the same things. 🙂 It’s not that warm here, low 60’s, but most likely warmer than where you are. Happy Wednesday, Shirley!
Liddy, what gorgeous silver pieces! I spied several that I adored…especially the engraved pitchers. They would be stunning with a pretty floral arrangement in them. I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!
Beautiful silver…….I collect THE DOMES. Have one in my bathroom to prop the door open so the CAT does not get stuck inside!
My Mother collected napkin rings……….we use daily!
I also collect CHAMPAGNE buckets the silver plated ones…………..am lining the TOP shelf in the PANTRY with them!

I’m in heaven, Lidy! You have some stunning pieces of silver. It’s the first thing I look for when I go to antique shops. I’m really partial to napkin rings and I’m always on the lookout for serving spoons, forks and tongs.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Jane
I have just recently become enamoured with antique silver napkin rings! Thank you so much for showing some beauties!
This is all good – I’m adding some silver to my home this year! Thanks!
Beautiful selections.
Lidy, I recently acquired a sweet, little french silver prayer book that has the same angels and cloud image as your mirror. I wondered if there was a story behind it and if anyone knows what it is. I enjoy visiting your store and blog so much. They fuel my newly acquired french country fantasies. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life.
Festive, elegant and beautiful! <3
The silver pieces are beautiful. It adds so much elegance to the table. I also love the transfer ware. I was lucky enough that my mother in law had a set. Servicing tea out of a silver tea pot makes the experience. I had my niece and grandniece for tea. My grandniece total everyone she was treated like royalty. One or two items can change the feeling of the room.. I have used many of you table setting ideas over the years.
Your silver pieces are so beautiful. I happen to enjoy polishing silver – it’s instant(almost) gratification to see the warm glow appear through the tarnish. Wishing you and yours a beautiful and Merry Christmas.
Lovely things to enhance holiday entertaining! Love it!
I love your blog!

Blessings
