Reflecting the post-WWII practice of sourcing heavy silver-plated service-ware internationally for U.S. luxury hotels, this was made for International Silver in Japan. The company began producing hotel silverware in collaboration with Nakazato, Japan, for the Hilton Hotel chain in the mid-20th century. The underside is stamped with the hotel inventory code 6-C-118A along with the manufacturer Nakazato, Japan. These marks tie the piece directly to the Beverly Hilton’s mid-century dining program.
