Antique English Decanter with Three Rings

Beautiful Antique English Decanter with Three Rings that dates to the earlier part of the 19th century, 1820-1840. A superb example of early 19th-century English glasswork, this antique three-ring decanter captures the elegance and refinement of the period. Hand-blown and finely crafted, the decanter features a classic shouldered form with a faceted, slice cut basal and shoulder flutes, a panel-cut body that beautifully reflects the light. The neck is defined by three applied rings—both decorative and functional—providing grip and balance when in use. With the original faceted stopper, with its bold teardrop finial, adding a touch of sculptural grace.

The very end of the stopper was dropped once upon a time, but has been professionally smoothed over for use by the owner at that time. There is a pontil on the bottom, and as is to be expected o a glass carafe or decanter that is 200 years old, there are scratches in the glass, as well as one inclusion, as shown, not unusual in early glass making- priced accordingly. Characteristic of English glassmaking between 1820 and 1840, this piece exemplifies the high level of craftsmanship from workshops producing luxury tablewares for refined households.
