Antique Black Hand Painted Chinoiserie Bowl with Drainer Late Spode

Antique Black Hand Painted Chinoiserie Bowl with Drainer made by the Spode factory in Stoke, England in May of 1915. Made especially for London's premier table top retailer T. Goode & Co., they designed and sold porcelain services to Queen Victoria and the Tsar of Russia. Well potted and with a pierced fitted top, the Chinoiserie design was transfer printed underglaze and then carefully hand painted with brightly colored enamels.

Rare pattern on black, it depicts large pink peonies and other garden flowers and blossoms and butterflies. The bowl is fully marked on the bottom, with a Copeland Late Spode mark and T. Goode & Co. mark transfer printed in blue, and the impressed mark for May 1915. Use this beauty as a way to serve berries, or add your favorite scented potpourri in the bowl to add an elegant fragrance to your home.
