Vintage French Velvet and Lace Wall Pocket Slipper, a fun find at a French brocante recently. Little slippers like this were often home-made following directions in Lady’s Embroidery and Handwork magazines, or in a cottage industry to sell in shops. This card slipper is covered with French blue velvet, tapestry ribbon, satin ribbon rosettes, and a fluff of antique French lace. It is marked France on the back.
Backed with light blue moiree, there is a loop to hang it from on your boudoir wall. Made in the 1930’s-1940’s, often used to hang a brush or combs next to a vanity, or in a sewing room to keep scissors on hand and “findable”. {Scissors not included, this pair belonged to my Mom Annie} Such a rare and romantic treasure, this is from a collector and is very clean and in good condition.
