An elegant Pair of Antique Hand Painted Opaline Portrait Mantel Vases, with gilt embellishments and trim. The soft apricot color highlights the white cameo areas with oval portraits on the front of each vase beautifully. A complimentary pair, each has a different lady’s portrait. Beautifully painted with floral garlands and gilt ornate detailing. Vases like this were mouth blown in Bohemia, France, and other continental countries. During the 19th century every mantel needed a pair of lovely vases like this!
In good antique condition, with one small chip to the back of the base of one, as shown. The elaborate all over gilt decoration has some gilt wear to the necks. Not for the glass perfectionist, one vase has two linear inclusions in the glass on the inside. This didn’t keep me from loving these two beauties, I have priced them accordingly. Please only adopt these ladies if you can love them with all their years.
