Miniature Gilt Bronze Box with Hand Painted Limoges Top with Musical Instruments painted on the top. A small treasure, the ornate metal sides are pierced all around, the box closes with the classic Limoges clasp in the shape of a bow. The painting was done by a master artist in Limoges, France, the top is made of finest French porcelain. Very rare to find in this very small miniature size.
So elegant, the Limoges porcelain had to be fired in the kiln numerous times to achieve this quality of color and luminosity. The brilliant colors and meticulously painted details make this box a rare treasure. The details are beautiful, the metal bands have foliate and floral designs. The box rests on top of four little ball feet. Signed on the inside of the lid, Peint Main, Limoges.
