Grand Antique Scottish Silver Plated Meat Food Domed Cover with Heraldic Crest of Arbuthnot Family.  This large antique meat dome features the peacock’s head and motto ‘Innocent and True’ motto of the Arbuthnot clan, the Arbuthnot lands have been in the hands of the same noble family for more than twenty-four generations including the present Viscount. Stunning in size, the silver is in very good antique condition, there are some dents in the dome as shown, so not for the perfectionist. {I’ve tried my very best to show the dents, they are impossible to capture on film}

Marked inside for the silver of Arbroath, Scotland with a crosshatched mark, and the letter L. Try as I might, I’ve not been able to track down a maker’s mark, it was no doubt custom made for the family. A lovely piece, not perfect, but rich in history of the Scottish Isles. Please only adopt this dome if you can live with the patina and several dents as shown.
