Napoleon III French Pique Sterling Silver Inlay Etui Case, of the finest French artistry, made with panels of faux tortoise shell, the French were experts at used to mimicking shell.  The material is steamed and formed to fit the open ormolu framework.  This is a rare beauty you will love to display!

The front of this case is a true work of art. Sterling silver metal has been individually hand cut and inlaid into the most extensive of designs. Lacey filigree form two borders at the top and bottom. The central cartouche {could be monogrammed} is surrounded by delicate flowers surrounded with leaves.

Inside, a lovely old fitted blue silk interior, and the little leather baffled sides that allow it to expand to hold sewing necessities for a lady’s bag. This is a lovely and large example of a charming Palais Royal souvenir of early 1800s for your collection! The case is elegant, pristine for its age and, and is fine in its value and appeal. These cases usually have cracks and never survive intact, this one has a few scratches, but that is all.
