Gorgeous 19th Century Blue Rose & Ivy Dinner Plates, made by Brown, Westhead & Moore Co. of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. The pottery began manufacturing high quality porcelain and earthenware, and had a Royal Warrant, which meant they produced pottery for her Majesty the Queen. Bought in France, most likely sold at the Grand Depot in Paris, a high end retail shop owned by Emile Bourgeois who introduced Parisian society to fine English ceramics beginning in 1862.
These flow blue plates date to 1869, and are exceptionally beautiful with their deep inky blue and pearlware color. The borders of ivy garlands graced by two rosebuds are surrounded by a scroll frieze and this design is truly majestic. The exquisite scalloped rims are a lovely shape, and quite elegant. An exceptional addition to your antique Staffordshire Flow Blue collection. Sold in a set of 6.
