Exquisite Signed French Engraved Jewelry Box with a beautiful Pastorale scene engraved on the top. Fine quality, this box has elegant bun feet, floral and scrolling detail on each side, but it is the top that is truly spectacular! The engraving shows a couple in a gorgeous garden complete with cherub statues. The young man is holding a bird, and the young woman is reaching towards the bird.
The hand work is astounding, truly a lovely example of an accomplished artist’s work. A beautiful work of art, the initials A.P. on the engraving and a signature to the left. Marked Made in France on the bottom. I’ve not been able to find another example like it. The velvet lining was replaced professionally at one time. A truly exceptional box to hold your most precious gems and jewels. {Or love letters!}
