Early 19th Century Blue & White Meat Drainer Peasant Country Cottage

$485.00

Availability: 1 in stock

Beautiful Early and rare 19th Century Blue & White Meat Drainer, made in Yorkshire, England in 1820 by John Brameld & William Brameld. A wonderful and decorative platter drain that would be placed on a large platter for the excess juices of the fish or meat to drain into the platter below at the table.

The design is called Peasant, it shows a woodsman returning home to his cottage. His little girl runs to greet him, his wife is busy at her spinning wheel. What a delightful country scene! The drainer has an impressed mark on the back. It has been repaired around the edges, most likely a plate hanger used for a century or more made surface chips. Colored in, slightly glazed over, please see the close ups. This is a lovely drainer, with gorgeous blue colors, still bright and shiny after more than  200 years later. A rare and exceptional addition to your collection.
