Started in France in the early 1800’s the custom of carrying {and leaving} calling cards was a social custom that became highly popular all through Europe and the United States.  Used by higher society, ladies and gentleman would leave a card when calling on their friends on a specified day of the week when the host or hostess would be “at home.”

This group of die cut cards with embossed scraps featuring elegant lady’s hands and beautiful flowers including roses and forget-me-nots are of the “hidden ” cards nature, but instead of names, they have congratulation wishes underneath the scrap. These are from the 1800’s, edged in gilt, just gorgeous! A fun collectable addition to your paper ephemera collection. Set of three.

Measure from about 3-1/2″ to 4-1/2″  x 2-1/4″ to 2-3/4″.
