Antique Staffordshire Sheep Shearing Figure 1835

Antique Staffordshire Sheep Shearing Figure, beautifully made in 1835 by James Dudson., Hanley, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England. An exceptional figure with a pastoral theme, she is a shepherdess, holding a sheep ready for shearing. Wonderfully and masterfully modeled in the round, with hand painted mixed enamel colors. Rare to find in this lovely color way, with hand painted detailing on her skirt.

She has elegant arms, and well-painted features. Slight restoration on one of the sheep's ears, and a diminutive chip in the hat brim as shown, other than that this is in wonderful condition for the age. A rare to find addition to your antique Staffordshire collection.
