Fabulous find, this Antique Saint Nicholas Friedrich Anton Reiche Dresden Tin Chocolate Mold is a flat mold, for making 7 chocolate Saint Nicholas figures. Molds like this are getting rare to find, as they are highly collectable. I was thrilled to discover this one at a European brocante. Friedrich Anton Reiche was known for making the world’s best, most valuable and most collected chocolate molds in the world. Reiche worked in the French Letang & Fils Mold Company in Paris, then began his own company in Dresden in 1888.
The seven figure molds are more rare to find, most come in even numbers. This mold is heavy, there is rusting and wear as shown. It comes just as I found it at the brocante, I haven’t cleaned it or sanded it down, just dusted it off. You will love this for your collection, for holiday decorating, or perhaps for creating chalk ware santas?
