Antique Large Deep Bird Plates Ornithological Blue Transferware in a Set of 4, in the style of Leonce Goutard and Pierre Mallet, the French designers and illustrators who produced naturalistic designs for transfer ware in the 1800’s. This magnificent set was produced at the height of the Aesthetic movement. These plates were made for the famed Oetzmann & Co. who began their luxury furnishings for the home business in 1848 in London.
Rare to find in this size, these antique 19th century Aesthetic Movement plates have deep cobalt blue designs featuring two birds amidst flowering branches on a bright white background. Stunning and rare design, these are in very good antique condition. One does have a glazed over dip on the back rim, this was glazed over by the factory. Such an amazing opportunity to add these plates to your collection, plates this age are almost never this large in size!
