Stunning French Fariniere from Provence, made of walnut with the finest hand carved floral urn details on the curved bombe front. Beautifully detailed with small escargot feet and a scalloped apron decorated with floral design,. A sliding “door” opens the box that was used in French Provencal kitchens to store precious flour. Made by craftsmen who also created armoires with all the cabinet makers details, these highly collectable, traditional and very decorative works of art were once found in all kitchens in the Provence.

Rare to find in this condition, marked, remnants of the makers sticker on the back, from Arles-en-Provence, made in the first half of the 1900’s. Very little wear, most notably on the “slide” of the front panel.  Has a hook on back, it was displayed on a wall- there were three knobs on the top that have run away over the decades as their circular indentations remain on the very top edge.
