Stunning pair of antique hand carved decorative wood corbels depict cherubs, or putti, from a church. The carving is truly exceptional, carved by hand by a master in the 18th century, these two have such a presence. Their gaze is towards the heavens, in honor of the glory of God. All the elegance of the Baroque period are embodied in this stunning pair of ornate cherubs.
This pair has a fabulous warm patina, they have exquisite detailing. They look breath-taking used as sculptural pieces, but will also be divine holding a shelf for display. Each has aging, one was repaired long ago where a knot in the wood most likely fell out. In wonderful condition for their age. Sold as a pair.
