Rare to find, this late 1800’s Children’s Glass was presented as a “souvenir” or gift for a Catholic’s child’s First Communion. The glass is hand painted with gilt lettering “Souvenir de 1ere Communion”, an etched figure of a boy wearing his Sunday best and the traditional French Ribbon Communion armband typical of communicants in France. Gilded rim.
A fantastic treasure to add to your collection of French religious articfacts, to display with photographs of your children’s or grandchildren’s communion, or simply as a sweet collectible reminder of days gone by, when everything was made with great care and skill.
