Beautiful Antique French Christening Gown from the very early 1900’s. A very beautiful wrap-around Christening gown fashioned in a lovely, subtly patterned pure white and fine cotton pique. The front has a French lace inset bodice. This very summery gown is trimmed with delicate hand made lace, as are the back “cross over” bands. This sleeveless gown closes with two mother of pearl buttons, open in the back.
Gowns like this were worn with little white baby shirts. The lace insets and edging is particularly beautiful and sweet. A wonderful gown for display, still very wearable. I know you will love this enchanting gown, this would be a fabulous gift for an expecting mother, as decoration for her nursery, or perhaps for baby to wear. I note one teeny-tiny spot on the front. A stunning addition to your collection or to dress your Antique French Bebe or Bear in.
