From the Normandy area in France, this fabulous Antique French Handpainted Tole Peinte Tray is a stunning addition to your collection. The center features a well painted floral design with two pink roses surrounded by rose buds and other garden flowers, so pretty. It’s getting rare to find the older toleware decorative pieces in this condition, without chipping and scratching on the center design.
Hand painted French scrolls in gilt dance around the rim, the photos make it seem faded around one side but they are all equally bright. There is a faint remnant of a signature. The back has a glued on liner added by a former owner to avoid scratching wood surfaces or perhaps a wall. There is the expected aging, with shinier and matter spots, but oh! what an exquisite addition to your collection to display with joy in your French country home.
