Antique French Hand Carved Wood Altar Cross from the late 1800’s. Beautifully hand carved, with elaborate metal ornamentation to the four ends of the cross, and one behind Christ’s head. The small plaque at the top of the cross is inscribed with “INRI”. The Cross itself is silver colored metal, as is the corpus.
A wonderful addition to your collection of antique French religious artifacts and relics. The base has a stepped platform, it stands on four small brass feet. There is the wear you want to see in a piece of this age, this was used in a French home for devotion for generations. Bought in France, loved, cherished and most the center of a family’s home altar, I hope it will bless your home.
