Antique Footed White Glass Wedding Box with Lid, made in the early days of Jeanette Glass, which began production under that name in 1898. Originally designed to hold the first slice of wedding cake for a bride and groom to enjoy after guests left. After that, it would become a cherished heirloom for the couple to use as a candy container.
What makes this candy 'box' unusual is that the lid can be used to provide a more elaborate foot, making it much more of a grand statement. In later years, these wedding boxes were reproduced by several other companies. This one is in lovely antique condition, will make a lovely addition to your tea table to hold your favorite French bonbons! Unmarked, as the earlier Jeanette pieces are.
