Beautiful Antique Ironstone Tureen with Wheat Lid, made by Elmore and Forster, of Tunstall, Staffordshire, England between 1853-71. These mid 1800’s collectible antique white-ware pieces are getting more difficult to find in this condition. This is such a charming early shape, elongated, with lovely decorative handles, a scalloped design on the top decorated with wheat. Used at a family table for holidays and special days, and loved. One small chip inside the rim as shown.
Wonderful to serve your famous French soup for a smaller crowd, a collection of ornaments for display, or display in your antique hutch with your collection. So attractive! White Ironstone is increasing in popularity, this piece will be a most welcome addition or start of your collection, and you will love to use it to set your prettiest table. Inside, you can see the “stilt marks” where the bottom rested while going in the kiln, indicative Victorian pieces. Mark of mid 1800’s registration diamond.
