Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Ironstone Tureen, this early covered serving piece has a stunning design in black on the pristine white background. Made by William Brownfield in the mid 1800’s, one of my favorites from my own collection. The black and white design is so graphic, this looks amazing with antiques as well as with contemporary pieces.
Not perfect, this early transfer tureen has served for over 170 years at the most gracious tables. There is a chip on the edge of the lid where the ladle fits in, and there is a very stable and old smaller hairline on the lid. Please only adopt this gorgeous one with foliate designs if you can appreciate its age.
- Measures 15″ x 7-1/2″ x 7-3/4″h.
