Antique 19th Century French Napoleon III Regule Jewelry Box or Casket, such a beautiful and dainty antique box from the Second Empire Napoleon III. Made around 1880-1900, this sweet box is made of Napoleon III era French ‘régule’, which was created late in 1800 to imitate bronze at less cost, made of metal alloys, then gilded.
The inside of the casket is lined with tufted silk in absolutely stunning chartreuse green silk with matching ribbon and silk rope trim. It’s so rare to find one of these caskets with the original lining in such amazing condition. This has a unique shape, with three hooved elegant legs. The style of this chest is numbered on the bottom Depose 525.
