Beautiful 19th Century English Staffordshire Cream Ware Small Pudding / Cake Mold made by the Davenport Potteries in 1866. John Davenport began his own pottery at Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire England, it operated from  1793-1887.  Molds like this were used to make steamed puddings, as well as ‘jellies’ by cook for grand luncheons, or dinner desserts. This mold is so lovely, with all the age, patina and colorations you want to see on an antique culinary piece of this age.

Round shape, with the delicate swirl that looks so pretty once the pudding is molded onto a pedestal plate and surrounded by heavy country cream, perhaps ripe strawberries. Glorious color with craquelure, age discoloration, in one word, just perfect! Marked for the company and year on the bottom with anchor mark. A heavy piece, display this beauty with your other pudding and cake molds. Sheer delight.
