Lovely Antique Pink Pastel Churn Dash Quilt, Churn Dash is a 9-Patch quilt block pattern that originated in the earlier part of the 1800’s. The name is a result of the resemblance of the triangle and rectangle perimeter of the block to a butter churn and the center square to the stick (or “dash”) of the butter churn. Nineteenth century quilt designs reflected what women saw around them, and what was important in their lives, such as the churn, a common household item. This is a beautiful quilt in very pretty soft colors, the back is a pink floral solid. A lovely pastel and beautifully hand sewn quilt, this quilt’s tiny, consistent stitching and condition demonstrates the skill of the quilter.
Soft and comfortably worn, this is such a cheerful part of history! Not perfect, the binding is shredded and could be replaced, and one of the quilt blocks has some loss as shown. There are some areas where tea might have been spilled, there are slightly darker areas. This hasn’t bothered me and they may soak out, but they are barely visible, please only adopt this beauty if that doesn’t bother you either. Dry cleaning recommended due to age. However, with great care you can machine wash on the most delicate {hand wash} cycle and tumble dry on low or no heat.
