Vintage Mead Cherubs Architectural Wall Sculptures Pair

Vintage Mead Cherubs Architectural Wall Sculptures Pair, a set of two plaster gilt figural cherubs, the designs are attributed to Josephine Mead. The cherubs are holding florals, acanthus leaves and garlands, painted by hand in gold, with silvered details, over a dark red ground. Artist Jo Mead began her own company in 1949 to manufacture affordable sculptural  art made from mold castings. Her work is avidly collected and displayed at The Smithsonian.

This pair is in 'as found' condition, there are a few areas that appear to have been professionally repaired, and a small part of the leaf garland on one of the cherubs is missing a piece and was repainted. A great addition to your wall of antique paintings, each one has a metal hook on the back for hanging.

  • Measures 13-1/2" x 8" x 3" for the largest, the other one is slightly smaller.
