Rare early 19th Century Blue and White Staffordshire Pearlware Plate made by Hackwood & Co. of Hanley, Staffordshire England. Hackwood & Co operated their pottery from 1807-55. This is a superb example of an early - circa 1810 - plate in a stunning bright blue and white transfer ware pattern of the Killarney region of Ireland. It features a beautiful country scene with waterfalls, 2 women and a man on the river bank, cows grazing, Ross Castle on the opposite bank, and a village in the distance.
The plate is framed in an exquisite wreath of country side flowers. Unmarked, as the very early pieces of transfer ware pottery were, this pattern is attributed to Hackwood and Co. In wonderful condition for its age!
