Antique Société Céramique Maestricht Stick Spatterware Plate

Antique Société Céramique Maestricht Stick Spatterware Plate, a perfect example of the stick spatterware technique, in which small pieces of sponge shaped into patterns were mounted onto an end of a stick and then dipped in paint. Once dipped the paint was applied to the pottery and dried to be glazed. This bowl dates to the 1890's, made by Société Céramique Maestricht.

The company was founded in 1851 by Winand Nicolaas Clermont and Charles Chainaye in Maestricht. Société Céramique produced fine earthenware on par with pieces made by Petrus Ragout for the next 150 years.

The design is a delightful floral arrangement in vibrant colors, featuring a charming garland of blossoms and leaves. The rich palette of cobalt blue, brick red, and green stands out against the cream-colored earthenware body. Whether you are a seasoned collector, or simply appreciate the history behind everyday objects, this plate is a captivating find. Display it on a wall, in a cabinet, or use it to add a touch of vintage character to your kitchen or dining room. Age appropriate wear, a tight hairline on the outside only, and some edge wea, which only adds to its authentic antique charm and character.
