Antique Pink and Yellow Rose Cookie Tin by Davide Lazzaroni

Beautiful Antique Pink and Yellow Rose Cookie Tin by Davide Lazzaroni, with a stunning silk screened rose design in pink and yellow roses. Boxes like this are in several Italian museums, including the Mario Lazzaroni Association Museum, based in Saronno, Italy. Made from the 1850's to the first half of the 20th century this type of box, made of metal and finely silkscreened, was a very expensive luxury intended for a very particular clientele. Cookie and confectionary companies hired the best designers of the time to decorate their boxes, they competed to present their products at the numerous World Fairs, the only opportunities to make themselves known not only to a wider public but to retailer chains.

This box dates to 1888-1910, according to the Lombardi Cultural Museum, the biscuits were arranged in special greaseproof paper, covered with a single top sheet of the same paper the size of the lid. This charming tin features a richly colored floral design, showcasing a romantic bouquet of yellow and pink roses delicately framed in gold on a green background. This beauty has seen many cookies and biscuits, perhaps even a stack of love letters later on. There is wear, as shown...but oh! What a gorgeous reminder of times gone by when even cookies came beautifully presented!
