Antique French Ironstone Platter with Blue Birds 1880's

Captivating and generously sized Antique French Ironstone Platter with Blue Birds, made by Longwy, France in the 19th century. Not perfect, but these are getting rare to find, so I grabbed it on a recent brocante buying trip. A truly enchanting antique French ironstone platter decorated with a lyrical pattern of blue birds perched amid graceful branches and foliage. Characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement, the design is beautifully asymmetrical, featuring delicate sprays of flowers, foliage, and berries. The pattern's focal point is a charming scene with two birds perched on a branch, beautifully rendered in shades of blue, capturing the quiet poetry of nature that Longwy is so celebrated for.

This antique French Terre de Fer {ironstone} piece exudes timeless French Country charm, perfect for display or serving. The blue-and-white palette lends timeless French elegance, perfect for both everyday display and special entertaining. This pattern is called Mignon, it's so sweet isn't it?! Use it to serve fruit, cheeses, or sweets—or display it in your hutch or on a wall as a romantic accent in your French country home. Of note, there is some slight discoloration and a tight, stable hairline which does not compromise the piece's structural integrity. The creamy, off-white ironstone body has acquired a beautiful patina and fine crazing over its long life, adding to its authentic character.
