Antique French Art Nouveau Silver Plated Figural Ink Well Signed Henri Honoré Plé. Born in Paris in 1853, he studied under the famous artists Gérault and Mathurin Moreau. He exhibited figures and projects for memorials at the Salon from 1877, winning honorable mentions, and received a bronze medal at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. A delightful representation of the period's artistic appreciation for the whimsical. Depicting an endearing scene of a young child playing with a goose and a snail near a barrel  brought to life in shimmering silver plate. The barrel conceals the glass little inkwell. 

For the connoisseur of fine antiques and the admirer of French Art Nouveau, this silver-plated figural inkwell represents a rare and luxurious find. It's extremely rare to see this piece in silver plate, let alone with the glass insert. In good antique condition, from a collector, the child has an opening in the back that most likely was part of the casting process, it may have been closed with a small screw but that little piece is no longer there.
