Antique Photograph by George N. Cobb of a Little Girl and Her Doll. I've been collecting antique photos of children with toys for a long time, this is one from my personal collection. Famed photographer George N. Cobb moved with his family to New Milford, Pennsylvania in 1850. At age nineteen he took over a photographic gallery owned by J. B. Hazleton in Montrose, Pennsylvania. He was trained by Mr. Hazleton before buying his business. George Cobb moved to Binghamton, N.Y. in 1870 and bought the gallery belonging to Ambrose Hickcox. He operated the studio until 1903.
This photograph of a little girl is so sweet, the girl is leaning on a tree stump in the studio, meant to imitate the outdoors. She wears a white gown edged in and lace, and is wearing her woolen socks. What makes this photo most endearing is that she is holding her beautiful doll in one arm, I believe it's a Frozen Charlotte type doll. A delight for you photography collection, or to display with your collection of dolls and bears. Antique condition, clear, there is a little wear, aging, bent corners and a little glue from the album on the very bottom as shown.
