Antique Littlefield “Rococo Scroll” Union Case with Single Portrait – Civil War Era

A genuine mid-19th century Littlefield “Rococo Scroll” Union Case, beautifully molded with elegant swirling ornament characteristic of the Rococo Revival period. Produced during the Civil War era, these cases were designed to safely house precious daguerreotypes and ambrotypes. This example measures 2-1/2" x 3", a classic small format, and retains its original single portrait within. The richly toned thermoplastic exterior displays the refined scrollwork that makes the Rococo Scroll pattern so admired among collectors.

Condition is consistent with age and history, this has a beautiful gilt frame around the glass. One hinge is broken, though the case remains intact and displays attractively. The molded detail remains crisp, and the original glass continues to provide a meaningful connection to the past.
