Antique Children's Book Our Dogs 1902

Antique Children's Book Our Dogs 1902, written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. A sweet collection of stories about the lives of beloved dogs and their families. Harriet Beecher Stowe {1811-1896} was an American author and abolitionist, best known for her novel 'Uncle Tom's Cabin'

The black and white illustrations feature children with their pets, dogs, but also cats. Along with a frontispiece and a 'vignette' of a pet cat on the piano, there are 6 more illustrations. Originally published in 1886, this is a wonderful collection of short stories about special dogs and their families. There is Carlo, {naughty}Rover, Giglio, Florence, and Wix. along with a chapter about Dogs and Cats, Aunt Esther's Rules, Aunt Esther's stories, Sir Walter Scott and His Dogs, and Our Country Neighbors. Such a delight! Of note, the very first page is not the prettiest, and there are smudges from tiny fingers on pages as shown which have darkened over the past 100+ years.
