An exceptional and highly unusual 19th century French Napoleon III jewelry casket, finely cast in detailed régule and elevated on graceful tripod legs. The elegant urn-form silhouette reflects the grand neoclassical taste so beloved during the Second Empire. Made around 1880-1900, this sweet box is made of Napoleon III era French 'régule', which was created late in the 1800's to imitate bronze, made of metal alloys, then gilded. The hinged lid opens to reveal a sumptuous tufted silk cushion interior in a luminous golden chartreuse tone — a striking contrast to the rich patinated exterior.

Numbered, indicating quality production, this rare piece possesses both sculptural presence and intimate charm. This has a unique shape, with three hooved elegant legs.
