Large 19th Century French Savoie Pottery Preserving Jar from the mountainous Savoie region of France. A beautiful example of the pottery from the region, typical of the traditional craftsmanship of Savoie potters. Remarkable for the vivid and earthy colors in the rich marbleized glazing design with amazing patina. Little pops of glaze reveal the lime in the clay.

Traditionally used for food storage in kitchens, made to store preserved lemons or olives and other food items in the cellar. A rare-to-find large decorative addition to display in your French Country home or kitchen. This gem has decades of life left and makes for a beautiful addition to any pottery collection.
