Antique Treen 19th Century Apothecary's Mortar - turned on a lathe. This wood mortar has a footed vase shape and incised decoration. Beautiful patina, and great color. The bowl has shrunk out of the round which denotes age, there are age splits as well.
Beautiful to use for so many different purposes, to hold a collection of silverware, hold a group of feathers, use on a desk to hold fountain pens, or simply display on your mantel on a stack of books. This is a decorative piece where, when you hold it, you can sense the care and love that went into making this.
