This fine Staffordshire Hen on Nest or Basket Tureen, 19th Century, from England has all the country charm and personality you could wish for! A 19th century English hen made by the Staffordshire Potteries, featuring a lid in the form of a chicken hen with eggs and a fitted base stylized as a woven basket. She's a little sassy!
Hand painted, the antique basket is glazed on the outside and the inside, the hen is not, a beautiful contrast. Made in 1870, so rare to find a sitting hen of this age with everything intact, usually the feathers or the beak or both are broken. Wear consistent with age and use. She is a fabulous addition to your collection. Display her with joy!
