Both the horse and rider were carved with exceptional skill and remarkable attention to expression and proportion, creating a striking equestrian figure that immediately captures the eye. The sculpture retains its original stepped base and a wonderfully aged painted surface in shades of brown, green, and soft green-blue, developing the warm patina that only time can create.

The back of the figure is flat, suggesting it was originally intended to be displayed against a wall or incorporated into a decorative setting.
